“L.A. Zombie”, Bruce LaBruce’s latest film is censured in Australia

The Canadian underground filmmaker Bruce LaBruce has got Australian censorship hot on his heels: his latest film L.A. Zombie, which features François Sagat as a sextraterrestrial half-man half-monster with a sextraordinary libido, gayishly zombifying the city of Los Angeles, has been banned from screening at the last minute, only two days before the 59th edition of the prestigious MIFF, the Melbourne International Film Festival, which started yesterday July 23 and whose slogan for this year seems fairly accurate : “It’s a matter of taste”.

Cristina Kirchner: “We are now a more egalitarian society than we were last week”.

Cristina Kirchner, Argentina’s President, signed into law the bill that opens marriage to same-sex couples, voted last week by the Senate after a 15-hour debate. The event makes Argentina officially the first country in Latin America to grant this right to gays and lesbians.
