Lady Gaga the subject of an art exhibition in Paris

22 October 2010

Galerie Chappe in Paris opens a new exhibit today called "Lady Gaga à gogo", the first of its kind in the world. What are the links between the singer and the art scene? How does she inspire them, and is inspired by them in return? The expo showcases pieces representing Lady Gaga, some that echo her persona, and an impressive collection of dresses worn by the star.

The event was scheduled the week of Gaga's concerts in Paris, that is before they were canceled because of massive strikes in France regarding pension reform.

Lady Gaga in drag king?

30 June 2010

Lady Gaga as a man? Or her male look-alike? Nicola Formichetti, the star's stylist, published on his blog a set of fashion photographs that will be issued on Vogue Hommes Japan, at the beginning of September, with a certain Jo Calderone as a model, captured by the lens of photographer Nick Knight.

However, said Jo Calderone looks disturbingly like Lady Gaga, Nicola Formichetti is fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan, Perez Hilton is blowing the story out of proportion on twitter (and we know that when it’s about buzzing their friends, notably Gaga, the sky is the limit) talking about his husband, and Gaga’s second name is Joanne (which would shorten to Jo), brought fashion and celebrity sites around the world, taking their lead from fans, to think that Jo Calderone could actually be the singer’s male alter ego. Lady Gaga bares almost all – with attachments – in ‘Q’ magazine

1 March 2010

Last week the rumor mill was ablaze that Lady Gaga burst into tears during a photo shoot with the British magazine Q. Primadonna temper tantrums, perhaps. The jury is out on the exact reasons why, but insiders speculate that Gaga insisted that her boyfriend take the photos, and others say she simply second guessed her decision to do a topless shoot.

Now that the photos are out, it is clear that Gaga wanted Q to playfully dispel rumours of her being a hermaphrodite by sporting a dildo in the shoot.

Gaga had this to say "I want to wear a dick strapped to my vagina. We all know that one of the biggest talking points of the year is that I have a dick, so why not give them what they want?"

Q Magazine surely doesn't seem to mind the publicity – they had this to say (click for link to quote and full report): "The dildo's a first. The one that Lady Gaga, the minx , is sporting down her trousers that is. We've not had one on the cover before. In at least one respect, then, we are breaking new ground. The story of how the aforesaid sexual aid and, in the broader sense, Lady Gaga - surely the best pop star in the purest sense of the term to have emerged in the '00s - came to this position is a fascinating one, and you'll find it laid out in full, revealing detail in the new Q Magazine, out February 23 (April 2010 issue)".

Gaga's Q cover was banned in the US, and several of her videos have been banned in several global markets for what censors and cautious music execs deemed to be over-sexed content. To round it all out, The Huffington Post reports that Reverand Fred Phelps of 'God Hates Fags' fame has recently declared that God has now added Miss Gaga to his shit list.
